New FKM material specifically to meet the demands of the oil and gas industry

With the newly developed FKM compound Vi 900, the seal manufacturer C. Otto Gehrckens presents a high-performance product innovation for use in the petrochemical industry. The material has proved its suitability as a dependable elastomer seal even under the most demanding conditions, complying with NORSOK test standard M-710 and also passing the hardness test with the best possible rating of 4x ‘0000’, without showing any damage whatsoever. Vi 900 is therefore ideally suited for use in production sectors which, as a result of the danger of explosive decompression, impose especially high demands on the seals used.

The special feature of this new product development is its outstanding stability under low temperatures. With a TR-10 value of -40°C, Vi 900 is suitable for the coldest applications, right down to -50°C and, as well as complying with the NORSOK standard, it therefore also complies with American standards API 6A and 6D for oil and gas installations. According to the manufacturer, combined with an extraordinarily good cold compression set this high-performance material sets new standards in relation to AED (anti-explosive decompression) and RGD (rapid gas decompression) seal materials.

A further plus point for this new FKM compound is its excellent resistance to a wide range of specific media and chemicals, from mineral oils to aliphatic, aromatic or even chlorinated hydrocarbons and also to acids in various concentrations and weak alkalis. And as the material is also characterized by very low gas permeability, a wide range of applications is possible. Vi 900 is used as a seal material in valves, ball cocks, pig traps or slider valves in production areas where the very highest levels of reliability and the best possible quality with respect to explosive decompression are required, above all in the petrochemical industry, in compressor construction and also in compressed air preparation. This new material is available with immediate effect.

New workflow efficiency in rail vehicle construction

At Innotrans 2018, the software developer Aucotec will be showing for the first time its mobility solution with a special variant for the development of vehicle electrical engineering and wiring of rail vehicles. The cooperative platform Engineering Base (EB) supports both standardized work as well as customized requirements. It allows entire functions to be reused, and it does not force processes into a rigid chronology as is customary.

Correctly combined

The call for standardized modules is becoming louder also in the railway sector. Such modules would assure faster vehicle development and smoother commissioning. However, a ready-made modular system, as in the automobile sector, would not work here because rail vehicles have to be adapted individually to different track requirements.

In EB, functions can be maintained as modules in a freely extensible basic modular system, for example, for lighting that consists of controls, indicators and luminaires. Options are stored as separate circuit components, which saves you from requiring the otherwise innumerable variants of sheets with all possible combinations of options. With EB, railway carriages are no longer designed individually for each train, but are configured from the quality-tested function modules. "This is how the platform combines individuality and standards into a significantly optimized workflow," said Georg Hiebl, Product Manager Mobility at Aucotec.

Flexibly adaptable

However, that was not enough for the software developers. A workflow is perfect only when the engineering system allows users freedom within the work process. "With the current cost pressure, it is important to adapt the design process to the internal specifications – not the other way round, as in having to subject the processes to the limiting capabilities of a system," said Hiebl. Furthermore, it should be possible to seamlessly integrate everything into the IT environment. For this purpose, EB is equipped with a multi-layer architecture that allows flexible adaptations to processes and seamless linking to other systems.

"Single source of truth" makes changes transparent

The system also permits an exceptionally transparent change process. The many changes in the rail vehicle development process are a major challenge when different disciplines are working together. In EB, all disciplines work in parallel, even simultaneously, on a central data model. This "single source of truth" automatically remains up-to-date and results in particularly continuous data consistency, not only for engineers, but also for the individually configurable production lists. It is always possible to see what has been changed by whom. EB’s data model ensures that corrections made once at one point in the documentation are immediately displayed in any further representation of the changed object.

LeasePlan Analyse: Das kostet der Auto-Unterhalt im europäischen Vergleich

Ein neues Fahrzeug kostet durchschnittlich etwa 600 Euro Unterhalt im Monat. Das zeigt der neue europäische Car Cost Index von LeasePlan, einem der größten Autoleasing-, Fuhrparkmanagement- und Car-as-a-Service Anbieter weltweit. Die deutschen Ergebnisse hat das Unternehmen auf Basis seiner über 100.000 im Full-Service-Leasing betreuten, ausschließlich gewerblich genutzten Fahrzeuge erhoben.

Beim Car Cost Index von LeasePlan handelt es sich um eine umfassende Untersuchung der Kosten für den Unterhalt eines Klein- bis Mittelklassefahrzeugs in 21 europäischen Ländern. Für die Analyse wurden repräsentative Fahrzeugmodelle ausgewählt. Der Index umfasst sämtliche Kosten fürs Autofahren einschließlich Treibstoff, Wertverlust, Steuern, Versicherung und Instandhaltung. Alle Kosten wurden über die ersten drei Fahrzeugjahre gemittelt und gehen von 20.000 km Fahrleistung pro Jahr aus.

Laut Kraftfahrtbundesamt wurden in Deutschland im vergangenen Jahr 3,44 Millionen Pkw neu zugelassen, das sind 2,7 Prozent mehr als 2016. Darunter befanden sich 25.056 Elektrofahrzeuge. Das entspricht einem Anstieg von 119,6 Prozent zum Vorjahr. Was kostet Autofahren in Europa und wie wettbewerbsfähig sind Elektroautos mittlerweile im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Antrieben? Diesen Fragen ging LeasePlan nach.

Roland Meyer, Geschäftsführer von LeasePlan Deutschland, sagt dazu: „Die gute Nachricht ist, dass Elektrofahrzeuge heute in mehreren europäischen Ländern eine immer wettbewerbsfähigere Option für Autofahrer darstellen. Deutschland ist mit 788 Euro Gesamtkosten im Monat für ein E-Auto zwar das siebtgünstigste Land, aber die Differenz zu einem Fahrzeug mit herkömmlichem Benzin- oder Diesel-Antrieb ist mit knapp 300 Euro immer noch sehr hoch. Wichtig ist, dass sich die Politik mit Schlüsselfragen wie der Ladeinfrastruktur und Besteuerung von Fahrzeugen befasst, damit Elektrofahrzeuge eine realisierbare Alternative werden können.“

In Deutschland kostet ein Benziner seinen Besitzer durchschnittlich 515 Euro im Monat, ein Diesel liegt bei 489 Euro und ein Elektroauto bei 788 Euro. Deutschland liegt damit bei allen Antrieben leicht unter dem europäischen Durchschnitt (Benzin: 536 Euro, Diesel 523 Euro, Elektro 819 Euro).

Die Ergebnisse sind von Land zu Land insgesamt sehr unterschiedlich. Norwegen ist das einzige Land, in dem die durchschnittlichen Gesamtkosten für die Haltung eines Elektrofahrzeugs (670 Euro) niedriger sind als die Kosten für einen Benziner (731 Euro) und ein Dieselfahrzeug (722 Euro).

Roland Meyer: „Die Segel für Elektromobilität sind gesetzt, ganz wichtig ist jetzt die Verbesserung der Ladeinfrastruktur. Hier sind wir dabei, Lösungen für Unternehmen, Selbstständige und Gewerbetreibende zu entwickeln. Dazu zählen auch entsprechende Abrechnungsmöglichkeiten über eine Art Roamingvertrag und Tankkarte. Der Ansatz von LeasePlan ‚Any car, any time, anywhere‘ bedeutet Mobilität mit jeder Antriebsart, jederzeit und überall. E-Mobilität passt derzeit noch nicht für jeden Außendienstler, der täglich mehrere hundert Kilometer fährt, aber sie passt auch jetzt schon für ganz viele Mitarbeiter in Leitungs- oder Bürofunktionen.“

Die wichtigsten Zahlen, Daten und Fakten aus dem LeasePlan Car Cost Index

•       In Deutschland kostet ein Benziner seinen Besitzer durchschnittlich 515 Euro im Monat, ein Diesel liegt bei 489 Euro und ein Elektroauto bei 788 Euro. Deutschland liegt damit bei allen Antrieben leicht unter dem europäischen Durchschnitt (Benzin: 536 Euro, Diesel: 523 Euro, Elektro: 819 Euro)

•       Gewichtet nach dem Bruttoinlandsprodukt haben Fahrer in Italien, Finnland und Belgien die höchsten Fahrzeughaltungskosten, während Fahrern in Irland, Polen und in der Schweiz diesbezüglich die geringsten Kosten entstehen.

•       Die Kosten für Elektroantriebe sind in Europa sehr unterschiedlich. Am niedrigsten sind sie in Ungarn, wo die monatlichen Durchschnittskosten bei 597 Euro liegen. Im Gegensatz dazu belaufen sich die monatlichen Durchschnittskosten in Italien auf 986 Euro, womit dieses Land der teuerste Ort für die Haltung eines Elektrofahrzeugs ist. Deutschland ist mit 788 Euro das siebtgünstigste der 21 Länder.

•       Norwegen ist das einzige Land, in dem die durchschnittlichen Gesamtkosten für die Haltung eines Elektrofahrzeugs (670 Euro pro Monat) niedriger sind als die Kosten für einen Benziner (731 Euro) und ein Dieselfahrzeug (722 Euro). Bei der Haltung eines herkömmlich angetriebenen Fahrzeugs ist Norwegen das teuerste Land.

•       Halter von Elektrofahrzeugen zahlen höhere Steuern. Der Halter eines Elektrofahrzeugs zahlt im europäischen Durchschnitt pro Monat 131 Euro Kfz-Steuer und Mehrwertsteuer (aufgrund des höheren Kaufpreises). Das ist erheblich mehr als der Durchschnitt von 104 Euro für Benziner und 108 Euro für Dieselfahrzeuge.

•       Elektrofahrzeughalter sparen viel beim Treibstoff. Sie geben im Schnitt 39 Euro pro Monat für Elektrizität aus, verglichen mit 110 Euro pro Monat für Benzin und 78 Euro pro Monat für Diesel.

Treasury Metals Closes $5 Million Equity Financing

Treasury Metals Inc. (TSX: TML “Treasury Metals” or the “Company” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amakzGVQXlg&t=8s  ) is pleased to announce it has closed a non-brokered private placement financing on June 25, 2018 (the “Offering”). The Company issued 11,904,762 units (the “Units”) at a price of CAD$0.42 per Unit for total gross proceeds of CAD$5 million.

Each Unit is comprised of one (1) common share in the capital of the Company (each a “Common Share”) and one Common Share purchase warrant (each a “Warrant”) with each Warrant being exercisable for a period of 60 months after the closing of the Offering to acquire one (1) additional Common Share (“Warrant Share”) at a purchase price of CAD$0.60 per Warrant Share.
