Resaphene Suisse AG: Tinnitus-Therapie tinniwell wird von Krankenkassen übernommen

Seit 2016 hat die Resaphene Suisse AG das Tinnitus-Therapiegerät tinniwell im Markt. Dieses basiert aus einer Kombination des TMNMT-Verfahrens (Tailor-Made Notched Music Training) und einer Wärmetherapie. In einer ersten klinischen Anwenderbeobachtung konnte eine durchschnittliche Linderung von 54% binnen 4 Wochen bei den Patienten erreicht werden.
Sukzessive übernehmen nun immer mehr Krankenkassen – abhängig von dem Tarif des Patienten – die Kosten für diese Therapie. In Deutschland haben z.B. die Continentale und die HUK-Coburg, sowie in der Schweiz die SWICA oder die Helsana, die Kosten vollständig getragen. Der Tinnitus-Patient muss nur einen Antrag auf Kostenübernahme bei seiner Versicherung stellen. 
Für die Krankenkassen bietet die Therapie ein enormes Einsparungspotential, da z.B. stationäre Klinikaufenthalte wegfallen und der Versicherte die Therapie im heimischen Umfeld durchführen kann. Nach Einstellung der korrekten Tinnitus-Frequenz mit dem Therapiegerät, soll er das tinniwell täglich 2 Stunden entweder am Stück oder zweimal 1 Stunde täglich für 6 Wochen anwenden. Besonders positiv wird von den Patienten die kombinierte Wärmetherapie empfunden, die über die mitgelieferten In-Ear-Kopfhörer erfolgt.
Das tinniwell-Verfahren wurde am 01.03.2019 in Europa patentiert und der Zusammenhang zwischen diesem TMNMT-Verfahren und der Wärmetherapie wird in diesem Jahr in einer placebo-kontrollierten Doppelblindstudie erforscht.

19th International Automobile Recycling Congress IARC 2019

New Year, new happiness! We hope you enjoyed celebrating the New Year and that 2019 has started well for you! As you know, time flies and this year’s International Automobile Recycling Congress IARC 2019 will take place in seven weeks. We hope you have already marked the days from 20 to 22 March in your diary.

This year we will again be meeting in the beautiful Austrian capital of Vienna. The preparations have already been completed and we look forward to seeing you again at our annual industry meeting. So, be curious – we promise you another interesting and varied program! Our special thanks go to Manfred Beck, Chairman of the IARC Steering Committee. A few days ago we had the opportunity to talk to him about the forthcoming congress:

• Manfred, the next International Automobile Recycling Congress (IARC) will be held in Vienna in seven weeks. Can you give us an update of the program?

Preparations for the congress are in full swing. The Lecture Committee has again drafted a great program with excellent speakers and interesting topics.

• What highlights can participants look forward to this year?

This year, the IARC has three first-rate keynote speakers who will highlight important issues concerning the automobile recycling industries. Andreas Tschiessner of strategy consultancy McKinsey & Co. will elaborate on ‘Mobility’s Circular Economy Potential’, Johann Prammer of steelmaker voestalpine will address the issue of the steel industry’s technology trends and materials for 2050. And I myself, in my capacity as Chairman of the IARC Steering Committee, will look back on “19 years of the ELV Directive – what has it brought the industry?” Another highlight on the first day of the congress is the panel discussion ‘Opportunities of the Circular Economy‘, with the participation of eight industry experts.

• What will the main topics of this year’s congress be?

Amongst other things, the IARC 2019 will place special emphasis on the following: reuse and recycling, legislation and regulation, sorting and classification, e-mobility and car battery recycling.

• To what extent has the topic of e-mobility reached the automotive recycling industry?

E-mobility is a subject of growing importance to the car recycling industry. Notably the storage, transportation and recycling of lithium-ion batteries have to be carefully studied because safety is a major issue.

• Until a few months ago, global automobile sales were still brilliant, but have weakened in recent months. Must car recyclers prepare for fewer end-of-life cars?

Although global car sales dropped a bit last year, there is no reason for the industry to worry that fewer ELVs will become available to the market. Last year, car sales in Europe even increased for the fifth year in succession, by 0.1% to total 15.2 million vehicles.

This year, for the first time, IARC will present a so-called ‘industry barometer’ in which we ask delegates about their opinion on the state of the industry. We will then be able to give a more detailed answer about the general feeling of actors in the automobile industry.

• Will there be a supporting program apart from the actual congress this year?

Yes, of course. The IARC is organising plant tours to three very interesting companies. The Scholz Austria Group is a market leader in recycling ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, notably in the field of ELV recycling. Isovolta manufactures technical laminates and composites. voestalpine Stahlwelt manufactures, processes and develops steel for high-quality products and innovative solutions. As the plant tours are usually booked out early, we recommend reserving a place well in advance.

• It is a good tradition that the participants are all invited to a networking dinner in a special location at the end of the first day of the congress. What can the guests look forward to this year?

This year, the IARC’s Networking Dinner will again take place in the famous renaissance-style ‚Kursalon‘ music hall. The theme of the evening is ‘Rock me Amadeus’, which is a song recorded by Austrian musician Falco. The song once
topped the singles charts on both sides of the Atlantic. It was Falco’s only number one hit in the United States and the United Kingdom as well as much of Europe. As usual, be prepared for an exciting, fun-packed evening with wonderful food, drinks and music.

P3 collaborates with Amazon to provide system integration and testing for Alexa Auto

P3, an engineering, technology development and management consultancy firm, announces a collaboration with Amazon’s Alexa Auto team to provide system integration and testing services for automakers integrating Alexa into their vehicles.

At the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show’s GENIVI Showcase, a special reception designed to kick off the premier annual event, and the 2019 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), P3 will showcase its Connected Vehicle Voice Recognition services with Alexa built-in, along with its core capabilities.

“This is where we need to be in terms of Voice Recognition capabilities and in making today’s drive and vehicle ownership a truly positive experience,” said Philip Potkowski, Managing Partner, P3 North America. “It is another example of how P3 is committed to providing clients with a truly end-to-end experience, from strategy consulting through development and implementation,” added Hakan Ekmen, CEO of P3 communications.

In addition to demonstrating voice recognition access to Alexa features and capabilities like music, weather, and traffic, the preview system will showcase specific in-vehicle features that could be introduced to simplify customers’ interactions in the car.

For example, the system could alert drivers of any maintenance-related issue: when passengers ask Alexa about a maintenance alert light, Alexa could respond with the description and an offer to schedule an appointment with a local dealer or service center. Alexa could then cross-reference the driver’s calendar with the dealer’s service scheduling system and proactively suggest a potential service appointment.

“By integrating Alexa into the vehicle, we believe we can make the in-car experience simpler, more productive, and more entertaining for our customers,” said Ned Curic, VP of Alexa Auto at Amazon. “We’re excited to be working with P3 to deliver new, vehicle-specific features and capabilities to Alexa, and to make it easier for automakers and suppliers to embed Alexa into their vehicles.”

In addition to the GENIVI Showcase, P3 and Alexa will be demonstrating this at the North American International Auto Show during media and industry preview days in the AutoMobili-D space at Cobo Center in Detroit.

Resaphene Suisse AG: European Patent Office announces patent for tinnitus therapy

Resaphene Suisse AG, ISIN CH0367465439, WKN A2JG91, has been informed of the announcement of patent grant by the European Patent Office. In a novel procedure involving a combination of Tailor Made-Notched Music Training (TMNMT) and heat therapy, an initial clinical user observation showed an average relief of 54% within 4 weeks in patients with chronic subjective tonal decompensated tinnitus; in individual cases, a decrease of 100 percent (complete disappearance) was noted.

"We identified the heatable in-ear headphones we developed as the key to successful therapy. The next step is an extensive double-blind placebo-controlled study at a large university hospital, "says Anke Rauterkus, CEO of Resaphene Suisse AG.

As part of the highly complex procedure, the project management for patenting was replaced by a long-term experienced project manager by the Board of Directors. This led to a significant shortening of the process. The Board is now expecting the swift completion of the US patent application.

Im Rahmen des hochkomplexen Verfahrens wurde durch den Verwaltungsrat die Projektleitung für die Patentierung gegen einen langjährig erfahrenen Projektleiter ausgetauscht. Dieses führte zu einer signifikanten Verkürzung des Prozesses. Der Verwaltungsrat erwartet nun auch den zügigen Abschluss der US-Patentanmeldung.

EPSON Accepts Orders For New USB Resynchronization ICS For Automotive Applications

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson") has begun accepting orders for the S2R72A11, a new USB resynchronization integrated circuit for automotive applications that supports USB 2.0, stabilizes communications, and improves connectivity with smartphones. Epson plans to produce 200,000 of the new chips per month.

USB ports, convenient and popular interfaces for in-vehicle systems, have become standard equipment on dashboards and consoles. However, USB connections tend to become less reliable as cable length increases. Epson first addressed this problem in 2009 with the release of the S2R72A4 series, a line of hub controllers that provide stable communications, improve the connectivity of in-vehicle USB devices, and are used in many in-vehicle systems.

The new S2R72A11, like Epson’s existing products, offers robust communications performance, supports the latest smartphone functions, and provides enhanced connectivity with in-vehicle systems. Smartphones are already being connected to in-vehicle systems for people to enjoy music, but apps that allow you to directly control your smartphone on a navigation system display are also gaining popularity, making smartphone connectivity essential for car navigation systems. To provide such connectivity, however, automotive ICs are required to adapt itself to unconventional connections such as USB On-the-Go*1 and issues for establishing stable connection are cropping up in the development of automotive applications.
Epson’s new IC has an integrated bus monitor that recognizes the switching of host and device terminals and automatically switches the USB communication pathway. 

In addition, the new product satisfies the strict quality requirements of the automotive industry. It is compliant with AEC-Q100*2 and operates at temperatures up to 105°C. The package (SQFN5-32pin-W) is a compact 5 mm x 5 mm and occupies minimal space. A wettable flank*3 package is used to improve convenience during visual inspection of automotive equipment.

Epson shipping samples of a 32-bit microcontroller with dedicated sound hardware

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson") has begun shipping samples of the S1C31D50, a 32-bit microcontroller with dedicated sound hardware for 2-channel sound. Epson plans to produce 200,000 units per month of each model.

Sound is becoming an increasingly popular feature in home electronics, remote controllers for home appliances, industrial devices, health and fitness equipment with guidance systems, and alarms in office buildings, shopping complexes, and factories. This MCU is ideal for all these applications. An ARM® Cortex®-M0+ processor integrated with a dedicated HW Processor provides 2-channel sound on a single MCU chip. The use of two channels enables music and voice to be played simultaneously, lending audio guidance greater elegance and warmth. Voice speed can also be flexibly adjusted.

The MCU’s dedicated HW Processor sound hardware boasts a pair of special features. First, the HW Processor plays sound without requiring CPU resources, so CPU resources can be allocated to other processes even during sound playback. The use of a high-compression algorithm (16 kbps @ 16 kHz) shrinks the size of sound data memory, making it possible to provide a large amount of sound data and sound data in multiple languages. Epson also offers a PC tool that provides a development environment for easily creating sound data in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean without studio recording.

Gibt es Musikstreaming in HiFi-Qualität?

Musikstreamingdienste erfreuen sich größter Beliebtheit. Statt sich CDs zu kaufen, streamen Verbraucher die neusten Songs direkt ins heimische Wohnzimmer oder auf‘s Smartphone. Markus Weidner vom Onlinemagazin weiß: "Für die meisten Nutzer ist das Streamen der Musik in MP3 ausreichend. Allerdings gibt es Interessenten mit hochwertigen HiFi-Anlagen, die sich wünschen, dass auch die Musik in bestmöglicher Qualität übertragen wird." Für solche Nutzer gibt es entsprechende Angebote.

Bei den meistgenutzten Streaminganbietern Spotify und Apple Music existiert zwar derzeit keine Option für echte HiFi-Qualität, dafür können Nutzer bei einigen Mitbewerbern fündig werden. Zu denen gehört beispielsweise mit Deezer auch einer der bekannteren Streamingdienste. Verbraucher haben die Möglichkeit, den Dienst 30 Tage lang kostenlos zu testen. Wer sich anschließend für die HiFi-Option entscheidet, bezahlt monatlich 19,99 Euro – also den doppelten Preis gegenüber dem herkömmlichen Abo. Laut Deezer sind derzeit rund 36 Millionen Musiktitel verfügbar, die in sogenannter FLAC-Qualität (16 Bit) gestreamt werden. Für die Offline-Nutzung wird diese hohe Qualitätsstufe allerdings nicht angeboten. Mit Musikstreaming in hoher Qualität hat sich zudem Tidal einen Namen gemacht. "Seit einiger Zeit kooperiert beispielsweise die Telekom-Discounttochter congstar mit Tidal, um Kunden zum Handyvertrag auch gleich Musikstreaming mitverkaufen zu können", sagt Weidner. Der Preis für Musik in HiFi-Qualität liegt hier ebenfalls bei knapp 20 Euro im Monat. Nutzer können dafür auf 46 Millionen Titel in verlustfreier Qualität zurückgreifen.

Ein Anbieter im Musikstreaming-Geschäft, der "Hi-Res-Qualität" bietet, ist qobuz. Mit 349,99 Euro im Jahr gehört der Tarif Sublime+, bei dem die Kunden hochauflösende Musik zu hören bekommen, zu den nicht ganz billigen Angeboten. Allerdings haben sie Zugriff auf über 40 Millionen Titel und 70.000 Alben in der höchsten Übertragungsqualität (Hi-Res 24 Bit). Wem es reicht in FLAC zu streamen, kann ein Jahres-Abo für circa 220 Euro abschließen. Hierbei sind auch Downloads für die Offline-Nutzung möglich. "Nach wie vor können Verbraucher bei den Streamingdiensten, die eine HiFi-Option anbieten, die Musikübertragung in Standardqualität wählen – zu günstigeren Konditionen", erklärt Weidner abschließend.
